Pub Life and Community

Drunken bastards crying themselves to hope
Celebratory rounds gone wrong
This is the Pub Life
We gather here today...
Wait? Did we really gather?
Or did we just all wander in
seeking solace in community
and relief in this reprieve of reality?

  1. Poetry is like a drink of life to me..

And there is solace in community...

    where drink...
    is free...:)!

  2. i would like to think that we all seek a little
reprieve from reality...and find that in community
more than thinking of ourselves only...
as is the culture of today.

  3. I understand a hangover can be a cruel thing...well, I confess, I know it can. But drinking in words and fellowship in poetic expression...what a lovely after-effect.

  4. I think dVerse is definitely a place for poets who are "seeking solace in community." Thanks for sharing you voice Charleen!

  5. I like the different perspective...perhaps we are all wanderers and seeking solace in the community ~

  6. i think it's both a bit - the community and talking to each other and also the finding a space to breathe and have a little pause from everyday life..

  7. I think community gives us some respite from reality, but at times makes us face it raw. I need both aspects and I just wandered in.

  8. Both. Definitely both. I think it's just the way the poetic psyche is built. Or hell, maybe it's the way all humans are built, but poets just do a better job of expressing it than others! Powerful verse here, well done.

  9. yeah - I would say both... respite from reality, but at the same time, we get reality from many of the writes

  10. Yes - both and more - as Brian said - we doodle on walls and tables and napkins, we giggle, and play. We think, we grieve, we tremble. We lament, we bombast, we serve. We SHARE and we love and we invent and life gets bigger every time..all on the inside.

  12. Relief and reprieve from reality…definitely works for me, especially with like minded souls. Hopefully a place where even the 'drunken bastards' can find some solace!
