On the Outside

Finland, 1968, photo by George F. Mobley

Its dreary-- and yet,
flashes of color pop.

What could be so important
that you would stand out in the biting rain?
Wandering in the woods
with your hearts and apples?

Is it worth it?
To celebrate when the world is grey?

Can you unearth joy
while the atmosphere sneers?
